UAE engineering hiring in 2026 spans five distinct disciplines, each with its own dominant employer set and credential ladder. Oil & gas + petrochemicals (ADNOC, ENOC, Borouge, Dolphin Energy, Mubadala Petroleum) on SAP SuccessFactors. Aviation (Emirates Engineering, dnata, FlyDubai Engineering, Etihad Engineering) on a mix of SuccessFactors + Workday. Civil + infrastructure (AECOM, Atkins, Mott MacDonald, Parsons, Khansaheb, Arabtec, ALEC) on mostly Workday with some Oracle Taleo at the older firms. Construction megaproject (Emaar's construction arm, Aldar's project development, DAMAC Properties, RTA-adjacent contractors) on a mix of Oracle Taleo + custom in-house. Software + tech engineering at Hub71 startups, Mubadala-backed tech, and Careem-tier on Greenhouse + Lever. Each tier reads engineering credentials differently. Here's the playbook, tested against 18 UAE engineering ATS configurations in May 2026.
Why UAE engineering hiring is fragmented
UAE engineering employment has unique scale and breadth. ADNOC group alone employs 50,000+ engineers across upstream, downstream, refining, and services. Emirates Engineering employs 8,000+ aviation engineers. The construction sector — between Emaar, Aldar, DAMAC, ALEC, Khansaheb, Arabtec, Six Construct, and the project-management consultancies (AECOM, Atkins, Mott MacDonald, Parsons) — collectively employs 100,000+ engineers across civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines. Add UAE's growing software engineering scene at Careem, Mubadala-backed tech, Hub71 startups, e& tech division, and AI71 — and the total UAE engineering market clears 200,000 active corporate engineering roles.
Each discipline has its own employer set, certification ladder, ATS configuration, and resume conventions. A single resume can't be optimal across all five tiers. Most UAE engineers don't realize this and submit the same file everywhere, getting uneven response rates without understanding why.
SuccessFactors-tier: Oil & gas + petrochemicals (ADNOC, ENOC, Borouge, Dolphin Energy)
ADNOC Group employs the largest single engineering cohort in the UAE. Their SAP SuccessFactors configuration dates from 2014 and was refreshed (not fundamentally changed) in 2022. Field expectations:
Required fields
- Photo (passport-style, top-right), DOB, nationality, visa status, languages with proficiency
- Driving license — surprisingly still asked even for desk engineering roles
- Education attestation: "Attested by UAE MoE (Equivalency Certificate available on request)" for foreign engineering degrees — ADNOC + ENOC specifically query for attestation status
Engineering certifications surfaced prominently
Oil & gas Taleo + SuccessFactors configs query specific certifications as keywords. Surface in a dedicated Certifications section near the top:
- SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) membership — universal weight in upstream
- API certifications — API 510 (Pressure Vessel Inspector), API 570 (Piping), API 653 (Tank), API Q1 / Q2 (QMS)
- ASME certifications — Section IX welding, Section VIII pressure vessels, B31.3 piping design
- NACE / AMPP — Corrosion Specialist, Cathodic Protection Levels 1-3
- ASNT (Non-Destructive Testing) — Level II / Level III certifications by method (UT, RT, PT, MT, ECT, VT)
- IChemE — Chartered Chemical Engineer for downstream + petrochemicals
- HSE certifications mandatory — NEBOSH IGC + IDIP, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, Permit-to-Work
- Process safety — Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOP leader, FERM (Failure Effect Reliability Management)
Project + asset experience surfaced
Quantify in barrels/day, MMBtu, MMSCFD, downtime reduction %, mean-time-between-failure improvements. Mention specific assets: Habshan, Ruwais, Das Island, Zakum, Lower Zakum, Upper Zakum, Umm Shaif, Bab, Bu Hasa.
SuccessFactors / Workday hybrid: Aviation (Emirates Eng, dnata, Etihad Engineering)
Emirates Engineering (the technical-services arm of Emirates Group covering MRO + base maintenance + line maintenance) runs SAP SuccessFactors. Etihad Engineering migrated to Workday in 2023. FlyDubai Engineering on SuccessFactors. dnata Engineering on SuccessFactors.
Aviation-specific certifications
- EASA Part-66 license categories (B1.1, B1.2, B2, C) — surface explicitly with current rating types
- FAA A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) with type ratings — Boeing 777, 787, A380, A350, A320 NEO families
- GCAA license (UAE General Civil Aviation Authority) — required for line maintenance + final-release signatory roles
- Type ratings on specific aircraft — surface every type rating you hold, parser tracks each as separate keyword
- EWIS / Borescope / NDT specialty endorsements
- Human Factors training — required annually for active license holders
- FAR 145 / EASA Part-145 repair-station familiarity for MRO supervisory roles
Workday-tier: Civil + infrastructure consulting (AECOM, Atkins, Mott MacDonald, Parsons)
The international engineering consultancies (AECOM, Atkins, Mott MacDonald, Parsons, Arup, WSP, Jacobs) all run Workday for their UAE entities. Modern global-standard configurations.
What to ADD or EMPHASIZE
- LinkedIn URL mandatory — Workday cross-references aggressively
- CEng (Chartered Engineer) via Engineering Council UK or equivalent (Australia EA, Canada Engineers Canada, US PE)
- MICE / FICE (Institution of Civil Engineers UK) — Civil Engineering Chartered status
- IStructE (Institution of Structural Engineers) — for structural roles
- FIDIC contract familiarity — Red Book, Yellow Book, Silver Book — surface explicitly
- BIM credentials — Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, ISO 19650, BIM Level 2/3 implementation experience
- PMP / MSP / Prince2 project management certifications
- HSE — NEBOSH, IOSH, CDM 2015 for UK-system projects
- USD-scale project experience: project value, square meters / kilometers built, schedule + cost performance
UAE megaproject experience as parser keyword
UAE consultancy ATS configs query for megaproject names as keywords:
- Burj Khalifa, Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, World Islands
- Etihad Rail (UAE rail network)
- Expo City Dubai (post-Expo 2020 development)
- Saadiyat Island Cultural District (Louvre, Guggenheim, Zayed National Museum)
- RTA infrastructure (metro, tram, road network expansions)
- Dubai South + Al Maktoum Airport expansion
- Hudayriyat Island, Yas Bay, Reem Island
Mention specific projects you've worked on — parser weights named-project keywords.
Taleo + in-house: Construction megaproject (Emaar, Aldar, DAMAC, Khansaheb, Arabtec, ALEC, Six Construct)
The local UAE-headquartered contractors and developers run Oracle Taleo at most divisions. Some (Emaar's construction arm specifically) use custom in-house ATS for their megaproject hiring.
Required credentials
- RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) + MRICS designation — Quantity Surveying, Construction Management
- CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) — Building Construction Management
- PMP + MSP for project management roles
- UAE Society of Engineers membership — required for some regulated submittals
- HSE — NEBOSH International Diploma + IOSH + CDM + OSHA 30 + First Aid + Fire Safety
- DREI (Dubai Real Estate Institute) credentials for property + development roles at Emaar / DAMAC
Greenhouse-tier: Software engineering (Careem, Hub71 portfolio, e& tech, Mubadala-backed tech)
UAE software engineering is the smallest but fastest-growing engineering tier. Careem (Uber subsidiary), Talabat Tech, Noon Tech, Anghami, Network International tech division, e& tech (Etisalat's tech arm), Mubadala-backed AI71, and the Hub71 portfolio collectively employ 12,000+ software engineers as of 2026.
Software-engineer-specific resume
- Single-column, no photo, no DOB
- GitHub URL mandatory + portfolio URL if applicable
- Tech stack explicit: languages, frameworks, infra, databases — exact versions where relevant
- Quantified bullets with USD or user-scale metrics (DAU/MAU, p99 latency, throughput, system reliability)
- Open-source contributions, hackathon wins, side projects surfaced
- LinkedIn URL prominent

The 5 most common UAE engineering resume mistakes
1. Burying certifications at the bottom under "Other"
UAE engineering ATS configs at ADNOC, Emirates Engineering, AECOM, and most major employers query certifications as primary parser keywords. SPE + API + ASME for oil & gas. EASA Part-66 + FAA A&P + type ratings for aviation. CEng + MICE + RICS for civil. PMP + NEBOSH universally. If these are buried at the bottom under generic "Other," the parser may not weight them as primary qualifications. Surface certifications in a dedicated section near the top — after Education, before Experience.
2. Generic "engineering" job titles instead of specialty-specific
"Senior Engineer" parses as nothing. "Senior Process Engineer — Hydroprocessing" parses as Process Engineering + Hydroprocessing specialty. UAE engineering ATS configs filter by specialty within engineering — refining engineers compete with refining engineers, not with reservoir or pipeline engineers. Be specific in titles.
3. Missing UAE-system project experience
Even if you've worked on technically equivalent projects elsewhere, UAE engineering ATS configs and recruiters weight UAE / GCC project experience higher than international equivalent. If you've worked on the Burj Khalifa, Saadiyat, Etihad Rail, Expo City, or any RTA-adjacent project, mention by name. If you haven't, mention GCC-system projects you've worked on (KSA Vision 2030 megaprojects, Qatar World Cup infrastructure, Kuwait Causeway).
4. Two-column "modern" engineering CV templates
Engineering candidates love templates with sidebars listing software tools (CAD, Revit, MATLAB, etc.) in a left column with experience on the right. UAE ATS configs read left-to-right by row, which scrambles the parse — your software list ends up concatenated with experience bullets. Single-column only. (We covered this at Canva templates vs Workday parsing.)
5. Mixing imperial + metric units inconsistently
UAE engineering documentation primarily uses metric (kg, kN, mm, MPa) but oil & gas uses field units (bbl/day, MMBtu, psi, °F) plus metric mixed in. Pick the unit system your target employer + your target role uses. For ADNOC + petrochemical roles: field units acceptable. For civil + infrastructure: metric throughout. For mixed-discipline roles: use the unit native to each metric (don't convert just to be consistent).
